Cricketer Murali Kartik visits Ashoka University

Murali Kartik, a renowned Indian cricketer who represented the India national cricket team from 2000 to 2007, in both Tests and One Day Internationals, visited Ashoka on Wednesday, October 5th. Kartik has also played in the Indian Premier League, and is a specialist slow left arm orthodox bowler, who is now a cricket commentator as well.

Ashoka students attended his talk in huge numbers and they couldn’t help being in awe of his humility. ‘What a humble, simple man who believes & lives by the consciousness of his Karma!’ said Shahambare, who is a fellow at the Young India Fellowship.

During his talk, Kartik discussed his life as a sports person in the Indian Sports scenario and emphasised the importance of ‘saying the right thing & not just the nice things to people’, as he believes that is what matters in the end. He also advised students and fellows to understand and harness their own inherent latent nature and not be afraid to learn and unlearn as they experienced new situations.

‘We all have our own time frames & time zones for our rise to success, so just keep working towards it’ he said to a loud cheering audience who then pestered him for autographs and selfies.
